Airport information.

Oakland: OAK

OAK is our recommended airport if you want to get to Napa fast:

  • Cheaper to fly in/out of

  • Rental car pick up is easier

  • Lines are shorter

  • Located next to highway and very safe

  • Comparable distance and sometimes faster than SFO to Napa 55-75 mins

  • Only 1 bridge toll on Benicia-Martinez Bridge $8.50 cashless. Rental cars will have services to pay and might add service fees (ask when you set rental up) OR to save money get a Fastrak Account. See video here for how that works: https://www.bayareafastrak.org/en/help/rental-vehicles-guide.shtml

  • AVOID flying in or out of this airport on WEEKDAYS between 7-9:30AM and 3:30 - 6:30PM. Traffic is very bad๐Ÿš—๐Ÿงจ

SFO is south of San Francisco and is great for tourism:

  • More lounges than OAK and more non-stop flight options

  • More car rental options plus premium vehicle availability

  • If you want to stay the night in SF before traveling to Napa this is the one for you

  • Bridge tolls are more-around $10.75 per toll. Rental cars will have services to pay and might add service fees (ask when you set rental up) OR to save money get a Fastrak Account. See video here for how that works: https://www.bayareafastrak.org/en/help/rental-vehicles-guide.shtml

  • Train goes from airport to downtown SF and Oakland. It is called BART and is safe but use basic traveler awareness. Use this link to plan BART travel: https://www.bart.gov/planner

  • Traffic is always bad, but you cross the Golden Gate Bridge and travel through Marin Headlands and Sonoma backroads to Napa. Very beautiful scenery.
